🎓 What is a state certificate at level B1?

📝 The State Examination in Polish as a Foreign Language is an exam designed to assess the language skills of individuals for whom Polish is not a native language, or for Polish citizens who permanently reside outside the country. This exam is mandatory for those who wish to study in Poland, work in Polish schools or local government institutions, as well as for those seeking Polish citizenship. The exam evaluates various language skills, such as: 👂 Listening comprehension 📚 In this segment of the exam, participants listen to recordings one or two times. While listening, their task is to solve tasks by selecting the correct answers, filling in the gaps in the text, or answering questions. These tasks are intended to assess the level of understanding of the listened text. ✒️ Reading comprehension 📚 In this part of the exam, participants read various texts. Their task is to carefully read the text (individual sentences, paragraphs, or longer fragments) and provide correct answers to questions related to each text. These tasks aim to check both general and selective understanding of the written text. ✅ Grammatical correctness 📚 In this part of the exam, participants must recognize and mark the correct grammatical form (using multiple-choice tasks) or create and insert the correct grammatical form. The goal of this part of the test is to assess the skills of practical application of correct grammar, so the tasks often take the form of short texts that form a coherent whole. 📜 Written expression 📚 In this part of the exam, participants choose one of the task sets and write a text according to the instructions. The topics are formulated in such a way as not to require specialized knowledge. The goal of this segment of the exam is to check the ability to create written expressions, not to explore participants' knowledge on a specific topic. 🗣 Oral exam 📚 In this part of the exam, the participant's task is to create an oral expression based on various materials—textual and iconographic. Participants choose one of three sets, each consisting of two or three tasks, and then perform the tasks before the commission.
